Classmates

Come join us and let everyone know "what's been going on with you".    In addition to helping us stay in touch with you, you will be helping us build a directory of the class from the information you provide, so we can keep everyone up to date with plans for the 45th.  You need to provide a username and password so that you can edit your information later if you choose to.  Fill in as much additional information as you are comfortable giving....we hope you will all give us an up-to-date address, phone number and email address (isn't email wonderful...think of how much easier all of this would have been for the 10th and the 20th!!!!  Course we were young and energetic back then.)  AND maybe a recent photo along with a bit of news about you.  If you don't have a picture handy right now....you can add it later.  If you don't have a "then" photo don't worry about it...it will magically appear in a couple of days.  Thank you for joining in the fun of remembering.

Forty years?  I remember when I couldn’t say I was 40 years old and by the time I could, I was 41.

After High School, my father retired from the Marine Corps and we moved to Colorado . At 19, I was in the Miss Colorado Pageant representing Metropolitan State College.

My second husband and I have been together for 17 years.  I have three married daughters, Angie 31, Shelley 30 and Jessi 27; we all live in the same town.  Shelley has our first grandson, Avery ( age 2)…he's a trip; Jessi  gave birth to our second grandson, Levi, on May 5; and Angie is expecting a boy on Halloween (we don't know his name yet so we call him 'Hot Rod' because his daddy is a car guy).  Christmas will be a blast this year!

My current job is a proofreader in the audit department of a large CPA firm in Denver.

I’ve maintained a life long friendship with Diana (Nilson) Campbell, one of our graduating class, who moved to Arizona in the 80s.

I'm still interested in art; I was one of the artists in Hilltop’s literary venture, Young Wings—love you Mr. Thomas!  For years I sketched portraits and figures, I've dabbled in writing and now I design jewelry.

I won't be there, so I hope you have a great 40th reunion and upload lots of pictures!

All my best,

Cindy

Occupation: Computer Network Technician
Comment: I’ve been working for Cajon Valley School District for 20 years. I started as an Instructional Assistant, then Computer Room Technician, and now I’m with I.T. Department as a Computer Network Technician. I mainly work on the imac client platform. But at any given time, you may find me setting up Apple servers, printer troubleshooting, or pc office issues.

And no, I don’t work on computers at home... mine is the last to get touched! I’m not a computer geek!

We have lived in the east county community of Crest for 33 years.  Thankfully, our home survived the fires of 2003.

I have two  children.  My  daughter, is married and has blessed our lives with two adorable grand daughters.

My son  is very dedicated to his job with local construction company.

I treasure my family, friends, good neighbors of Crest and so many great teachers that I work with.

I am  looking forward to visiting with my  Lancer family!

See you this summer!  Margaret

Comment: I don't know if I qualify for the reunion, since I moved the summer before my senior year -- only to graduate from Hillsdale High School (the Knights, no less) in San Mateo, Calif.

But I love the site, and seeing "old" friends.

I've been in the Seattle area since 1979, and love it up here. I cover the Seattle Seahawks for the Post-Intelligencer. Some kids just never grow up.

I married my high school sweetheart (Barbara Garvin, CVHS class of '68) while still attending San Diego State and we had two darling daughters (Jessica, now 34; and Erica, 30) before splitting up. I've been married to a fabulous French Canadian woman, Renee Valois, for the past 20 years and we became grandparents in August (Satya, whose parents are Renee's son and his wife, another French Canadian).

Comment: Hi Everyone,
I just found out there really is going to be a reunion and I am so glad.  Can we really fathom 40 years???
Well, for me 40 years has taken a toll on my body and gravity is the big winner.  (Not to mention a moment on the lips, forever on the hips and everywhere else.)
My husband Bruce and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in February.  Bruce wound down his military career in 1992 as the XO of the Reserve Center in Alameda, CA, and retired after 20 years of service in the Navy.  He continues to work in the private sector and also teaches ESL to adults.  We have lived in the SF Bay area for over 20 years now.
Myself, I have worked wherever Bruce's career has taken our little family.  I settled into a nice position in the bay area for several years working as the import contact for an equipment mfg in Sweden.  I retired due to attrition about 6 years ago and went back to school.  Last spring, I graduated from Chabot College with my AA in Biological Sciences for Allied Health.  I have been accepted to the Nursing Program at Cal State East Bay for this fall.
I started taking piano lessons when I was 45, and continued for 10 years.  It was great fun and still is a wonderful source of pleasure to play.  Now my latest hobby takes me back to my music roots and I am pursuing the Sweet Adeline's.  It is a lot of fun singing with a group of wild and crazy women again.
My son James is 33 now and living in San Jose.  He has been "engaged" forever.  I so wanted to be a grandmother before I looked like one...too late.
I hope I can make it to the reunion.  It would be nice to see everyone again.  I just don't know if I will be able to recognize any of you.
Love to all of you, Janet, Ditto....

Comment: Hello to all,  I'm sorry to miss this memorial reunion.  I will be in San Diego next weekend to spread ashes of my Father who passed away on Jan. 1, 2008.  We had a great life with him.  He was a devoted Father.  I have lived in Colorado, mostly Denver since 1973.  I worked as a Nurse in a hospital until 1987 when I went back to gradauate school and received a Masters in Psychiatric Nursing which allowed me to get my prescriptive authority, and prescribe psychiatric meds.  I have my own practice.  I have a very nice home in Westmister CO.  I'm in a committed relationship with a very fine man, who has two teenager girls.  This has been the closest experience for me with Motherhood.  It is trying at times and I must admit the I recite the mantra, "this too will pass"  about once a day.  Best wishes to you all.  Cameron-k

Comment: After reviewing the notes and pictures on this site, I had to add my greetings to all of you.  I doubt I will make it to the reunion this year, but I've really enjoyed looking through the web site and thinking back to the 60s. My life has many of same elements as all of yours.  I graduated from UCSB, then went to SFSU for a Master's in English and began a 34 year career (so far) with the California community colleges at College of the Desert in Palm Desert as an English professor.  While there, I married, had two sons, was awarded a Fulbright Award in Liverpool, England, divorced, remarried, and had two more sons.  Then, in 1990 I returned to Chula Vista as a Dean at Southwestern College but discovered that CV had changed so very much, and 1994 Renee and I moved to Santa Rosa where I was a Vice President for Santa Rosa Junior College.  Along the way, I completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership, and in 2006 accepted the position of Superintendent/President of Monterey Peninsula College.  We are enjoying serving the beautiful Monterey Bay community.  I note that many of you are already retired.  That next step is still a ways off for me.  I wish you all the best.

Comment: Life post HHS has been very blessed.  Married 36 years to Diane (CVHS, 1969), 3 kids of our own (Brian 34, PJ 31, Kristen 28) and one recently adopted (Will 28), plus 4 grandkids (6, 3, 8 months, 2 weeks).  Taught college for 17 years (Speech Communication) and was the debate coach at SDSU and the University of Oregon.  Went into management consulting/leadership development in 1988, am now Managing Director of the Leadership Research Institute (LRI).

We have developed a great fondness for Cabo San Lucas, where we try and spend 6-8 weeks a year golfing, fishing, and doing as little as possible.  If you get an urge to go down there, give us a shout...it really is our second home.

We still are in the San Diego area, the last 25 years near SDSU.  We live in the llittle community of Alvarado Estates, right down the hill on Montezuma Rd on the way to interstate 8.  Diane teaches kindergarten at Hardy Elementary (the school at  55th and Montezuma), which is incredibly convenient.

I also have developed a fun hobby--on sort of a whim, I formed a little record and publishing company 7 years ago to sponsor a country music artist I met at a bar in NYC.  Since then, we've done 7 or 8 CD's and the band (visit them at jacksontaylorband.com) is now headlining across the Midwest and Texas in midsize venues, and is opening for groups like Lynard Skynard and ZZ Top.   I actually dragged Jack Schreiner to one of their concerts in Manhattan, Kansas last year and we had a great time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
